History

The Giarre.
Led by the Calzone family for forty-five years, Le Giarre is synonymous with quality, courtesy, professionalism and humility but also an obligatory stop for those visiting Roccabernarda.
Our journey began a long time ago, when the young Antonio, already a building contractor, had a dream in the drawer: that of making a small contribution to the growth of the Roccabernarda community.
So in 1975, together with his wife Maria, he decided to found the Bar Ristorante Pizzeria Le Giarre in a place under the house, in which there was a turnout from all the marquisate, and only in 1981 was the new building that still houses the venue.
Thus was born, the Bar Pasticceria Gelateria Ristorante Pizzeria Le Giarre, which over time has become a crossroads for passers-by, since Roccabernarda is located in the center of the Crotone marquisate 30km from the small Sila (Trepidò ), and 30 km from the Ionian sea, but also a reference point for our country itself.
Le Giarre combines professionalism at work with the history of a family that offers its customers their passion for the art of coffee, confectionery and catering.
With the succession of generations, with Salvatore and Angela, the services have also increased, becoming over time: Bar, pastry shop, ice cream parlor, tobacconist, newspapers, hotel, service center and Sisal and Lottomatica games, stamped values , Western Union point, ticket office: calabria railways, flixbus, guzzetti, plane and train ticket reservations.
We consider ourselves ambassadors of tradition with a propensity for innovation, always looking for quality raw materials, with the right experience that grows day by day. This is why Le Giarre is a point of reference for those who want to indulge in a unique experience.

The bar is unquestionably one of the national symbols, associated with the pleasure of us Italians to give ourselves a coffee at any time of the day or an aperitif at sunset, it is certainly the type of place that most represents us even abroad.
And about two centuries ago, or when in the mid-nineteenth century the now established bourgeoisie used to gather at the tables of the cafes to savor the worldliness, that the history of bars in Italy knows its moment of splendor. Many of the clubs of the time hosted great personalities from the cultural world, saw the birth of political affairs and hatching plots. Even women, in the mid-nineteenth century, were granted entry and many of them became regular customers.
Over time, starting from the second post-war period, the dimension of the bar as an elite place begins to change taking on a more popular role capable of attracting people from all walks of life, exactly as it still happens today.
